Factory Mutual Research Building

A four-story 160,000 SF office building was designed to accommodate lab space on the first level and offices above. The first floor floor-to-floor height of sixteen feet precluded the economical use of moment frames. A bracing system was designed and incorporated into the architectural floor plans. The facade featured a combination of strip windows and metal panels. A tube-supported brick relieving angle system was used to support the bands of brick.
