A 10 story residential structure was designed over a two-story underground parking garage. The garage was designed with a composite metal deck as a form with epoxy coated reinforcing and a membrane wearing surface. The structure was designed utilizing on open web bar joist system supported on steel beams. With some rearranging of columns the lateral load resisting system was braced frames in both directions that resulted in substantial savings to the steel frame costs.
