Scituate Harbor Project

Two three-story structures were design within a floodplain overlooking Scituate Harbor. Two levels of luxury condominiums were constructed over retail stores and a movie theatre. In order to allow column free space at the retail level, the second floor was framed with two main lines of steel girders supported by steel columns. The floor was in filled with wood trusses and the exterior walls were framed in wood in response to the required architecture. The ground floor was framed in composite steel to support commercial and retail activities over a crawl space. The depressed theatre area was designed with a three-foot mat to resist uplift.
