A new five-story block and plank framed structure was connected to an existing school building structure which was converted to apartments. The connector bridge at the third floor spanned sixty feet to connect the two wings. The existing school structure was evaluated for seismic hazards. Mitigation was limited to bracing tall parapets and anchoring the exterior masonry walls to the wood floor.
